10th Death anniversary of Mia Musa Hossain

10th Death anniversary of renowned politician, former Whip and Founder and Chief Editor of The Daily NewsLine Mia Musa Hossain on Sunday 07 June 2015. Eight years ago, he passed away after a long battle with kidney disease.

All members of The Daily NewsLine remember him with great honour and supplicate to the Almighty Allah (SWT) that He may grant him at the topmost place of Jannatul Ferdous (Amen).

Short sketch of his illustrious life

Mia Musa Hossain was born in Khulna on 22nd November 1945. His grand grandfather Israil Mia and his brother Yousuf Mia were much popular among Hindus and Muslims of his locality. Khulna Yosufia Madrasa, Town Jame Mosque including Coronation Girls’ High School is the contribution of these two brothers. Late Md Ismail Hossain was chairman of Gangarampur union under Batiaghata upazila for a long time.

His grandfather Ibrahim Mia was also very popular at his region for sheltering the oppressed subjects both from Hindu and Muslin by the then oppressor zaminders. He also bought many properties from zaminders and came famous for his vast estate. “Ibrahim Mia Road” has been named after him at Khulna metropolitan for his righteousness and generosity.

In 1966 just after the end of college life, Late Mia Musa Hossain joined with the Pakistan Army as Gentleman Cadet at Kakul Military Academy. And in 1969, he returned from the military job and admitted Political Science in Dhaka University. This time, he got involved with student politics including 11-point movement. On the same year, he elected secretary of East Pakistan National Student Federation. Being attracted of the fame of Mia Musa Hossain, the then Muslim League secretary Abdul Qaiyum inspired him to contest at Provincial Council election at his own initiative. Then he was still a student.

He involved with active politics in 1976. he elected city and district president from Democratic League. After forming the Jana Dal, He was made its Agri Secretary of the central committee.

After forming of Jatiya Party, he was made central circulation and publication secretary of Khulna district unit. He also performed responsibility of joint secretary general of the Jatiya Party.

Late Mia Musa Hossain was a journalist by profession. He was a news broadcaster of the then Radio Bangladesh in 1972. He was the executive editor of Mukhapatra and subsequently of Desh

Bangla. He was the Publisher and Chief Editor of Dainik Patrika, publishing from Dhaka. He held the position of director from Board of Directors Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) for three years. On 3rd May of 1988, he was elected MP from Khulna in Jatiya Party ticket. He made Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad in January of 1990.

Late Mia Musa Hossain was put in jail for anti-government and Free Ershad movement .
After a long battle with kidney disease, Late Mia Musa Hossain passes away for eternal abode on 7 June 2005

He left behind his wife, one son, one daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and grandchildren’s to mourn his death.
