NUS observed International Migrants Day 2004

Nari Unnayan Shakti (NUS) today organized a staff orientation program on Safe migration for combating human trafficking at Narayanganj town office due to observance of the International Migrants Day 2014. Forum for Culture and Human Development (FCHD) supported this orientation program.

NUS Executive Director and Internationally reputed Trainer Dr. Afroja Parvin inaugurated the orientation program while attending as the chief guest in the event. She spokes on her speech that, in the recent time, a large number of female workers themselves seeking overseas employment and communicating with recruiting agencies for migration.

But they have few knowledge and poor literature on migration system. As a result, they are often become victims of trafficking and sexual abuse. On the other hand, job providers give them fake commitment for good job but the potential migrant workers do not get decent job as per their commitment. So, they fall into false position and suffering more.

NUS now working on the issue and implementing a project on safe migration at Patiya upazilla of Chittagong with the support of BRAC, at Narayanganj and Jessore with the support of FCHD.

NUS Project Coordinator Abdul Momin and Asian TV Narayanganj Correspondent Khaled Bin Firoz also spoke the occasion. NUS observed the day simultaneously at Jessore and Chittagong DIC through organizing staff orientation and discussion meeting.
