TiE launched in Bangladesh

The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) launched its Bangladesh chapter in Dhaka on Saturday, aiming to facilitate young entrepreneurs of the country.

To mark the occasion a gala night held at the Bangabandhu International Conferecne Center. Honorable Minister for Information Hasanul Haque Inu inagurated the activites of TiE Dhaka as chief guest.

Jon Danilowicz, Deputy chief of mission of US Embassy in Dhaka and Rokia Afzal Rahman, President of Metropoliton chamber of commerce & Industry (MCCI) were present as special guest.

Sonia Bashir Kabir, the founder president of TiE Dhaka, Vice-president Shamim Ahsan and other directors of TiE Dhaka were also present, among others, on the occasion.

Sonia Bashir Kabir said, “TiE is the world’s largest ‘not for profit’ voluntary organisation, dedicated to assist entrepreneurship in the global platform. We have began our journey here to foster the local entrepreneurs.

TiE is a platform of professionals and businesspeople who want to help our next generation entrepreneurs every way possible, she said.

Bangladesh with 50 percent of the population under the age of 21 has infinite potential,” she said. To tap the potential the organisation will facilitate the young entrepreneurs by guiding them from idea generation to finding investment partners, she added.

TiE was founded in Silicon Valley in 1992 by a group of entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior pofessionals with roots in the Indus region and has grown to 11,000 members in 60 chapters across 17 countries.
